Maurizio Cattelan launches a new project, “Made in Catteland,” with this limited-edition scarf designed just for the High Line. Modeled on the traditional soccer fan scarf, this piece references the High Line’s history as an elevated railway, High Since 1934, with a sly visual joke in the knit image of the leaf. It’s the leaf of the Abbeville Blue Chaste Tree, which can be found in the park near 23rd street (but may be mistaken for another kind of plant).
“Made in Catteland” is a collaboration with Pierpaolo Ferrari (as Toiletpaper), and is inspired by the principle: Art for All. As with many of Cattelan’s previous ventures, the project aims to overcome the boundaries of art (as we are used to thinking of it).
74 x 8 inches (L x W). 100% acrylic. Exclusive for the High Line.
