This is the world’s first plantable pencil. Designed by MIT students, who set out to make “the sustainable office article of tomorrow,” the entire pencil is water-soluble, and the end capsule contains seeds—so you can plant it right in the ground.
It’s made from natural materials, including a cedar wood body that is PEFC or FSC-certified (meaning a new tree is planted for each one harvested). The core is a mixture of clay and graphite, and the seed capsule contains high quality, non-gmo seeds.
