Elevated: Art on the High Line surveys the rich, multifaceted offerings of High Line Art. Published by Monacelli, a Phaidon company, the book features a world-class array of works and projects spanning the last decade by key artists from around the world, including El Anatsui, Phyllida Barlow, Jordan Casteel, Sam Durant, Sheila Hicks, Barbara Kruger, Simone Leigh, Zoe Leonard, Paola Pivi, Faith Ringgold, Cecilia Vicuña, and many others. Elevated documents the creative evolution and vibrant cultural programming of High Line Art, which offers a city-scale canvas for artists and performers to interact with, seen in abundant photographs that chronicle the projects across the passage of seasons in the park.

Through breathtaking images and unique conversations with and between participating artists, as well as essays by key critics, this book details the dozens of open-air installations, billboards, murals, video projects, and participatory events that demonstrate the unique and vibrant impact High Line Art has had on both New York City and the art world.

Elevated features conversations with artists and High Line notables Sheila Hicks, Adrián Villar Rojas, Sam Durant, Frank Benson, Tony Matelli, Pamela Rosenkranz, Maria Thereza Alves, Kapwani Kiwanga, Sarah Sze, Cecilia Vicuña, Piet Oudolf, Andrea Bowers, Guillermo Galindo, Onyeka Igwe, Will Rawls, Sable Elyse Smith, Kevin Beasley, Naama Tsabar, Tourmaline, Anne Collier, Julia Phillips, David Horvitz, Matt Johnson, and Marianne Vitale. The book also features written work by Saidiya Hartman and Eileen Myles, as well as original essays by Aruna D’Souza, Emanuele Coccia, Cecilia Alemani, Julia Bryan-Wilson, Melanie Kress, and Taylor Zakarin.
