Say hello to the Robins on the High Line with this bird call.
Each of these bird calls have been developed over years by Monsieur François Morel, who has been making bird calls since he was a child in the mountains of Southern France.
Your call will allow you to learn to recognize birds by their song, to communicate with them, to discover, observe and love them—this, according to M. Morel, is “without doubt a first step in understanding the secret of happiness.” Slowly and conscientiously created from lasting materials such as boxwood, maple, beech, leather and brass, these are wonderful gifts to share between generations.
Please use these calls as intended—please do not purchase for hunting and take care to avoid using calls during times of nesting.
Polished boxwood and metal
Hold the bird call at its widest part, thumb and forefinger surrounding it completely, the other fingers cupped around. Make a series of brief and light blows, modulating the sound by moving the tongue. Try to mimic the trotting of a horse to make the tongue movement.
